GuitarBeats

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains how personal data is handled when you use GuitarBeats on iPhone or iPad.

The audio and creative features described below process and store their content locally on your device. Exporting or sharing files is your choice. The advertising and purchase sections apply only to versions that actually include the features specified there.

1. Controller and privacy contact

The controller is:

UniCom EDV Service & Entwicklung GmbH
Hohenzollering 57
50672 Köln
Germany

Phone: +49 221 29297070
Email: datenschutz@unicomedv.de

2. Microphone and audio interface input

GuitarBeats processes microphone and compatible audio interface signals locally to provide the audio functions you use. These signals may include your guitar playing, your voice, or other sounds captured by the selected input. This local processing does not send the audio signals to us.

Where iOS or iPadOS requires microphone permission, you control that permission through the system prompt and your device settings. You can revoke it in settings. Features that require the affected audio input will then be unavailable unless you grant access again. A system permission is a technical access control; it does not by itself determine the legal basis for every use of personal data.

3. Guitar recordings

When you record a session, GuitarBeats stores the recording locally so you can keep and use your performance. A recording can contain personal data if, for example, it includes an identifiable voice. Creating or keeping a local recording does not automatically send it to us. You decide whether to export or share it.

4. Imported music and backing tracks

Music files and backing tracks that you import are processed locally for use in the app. This includes the audio content and file information needed to open and use the selected file. The local processing described here does not upload these files to us.

If you select a file from a cloud-based file provider, that provider may download or synchronise it as part of making it available on your device. This is separate from GuitarBeats's local audio processing.

5. Phrases, documents, and settings

GuitarBeats stores phrases, documents, and app settings on your device to retain your work and preferences. Their contents may include personal information that you choose to enter or include in a document. These locally stored contents are not automatically sent to us by the functions described in this policy.

6. Voluntary exports and support traces

You can choose to export files or support traces. An export creates a file for the destination you select; it does not by itself mean that the file is sent to UniCom. Support traces are intended to help investigate technical problems. Their contents may include personal information, depending on the information included in the trace.

Review files and traces before sharing them. If you choose to send them to us for support, we process the material you provide and the accompanying correspondence to investigate and respond to your request. You can ask us about the personal information contained in material you have sent using the privacy contact above.

7. iOS file providers and the Share Sheet

Imports and exports can use iOS or iPadOS file providers and the system Share Sheet. You select the file, destination, receiving app, or recipient. Depending on your selection and device configuration, the destination may be local storage, a cloud service, another app, or another person.

The selected provider or recipient receives the material you choose to share and handles it under its own terms and privacy information. Saving to a synchronised location can result in that provider storing copies outside your device. Review the provider's privacy information before selecting it if you do not want that processing.

8. Deletion, retention, and device backups

Local recordings, phrases, documents, and settings remain in the relevant storage until they are deleted or removed as part of managing the app or device. Manage app-local content through the available app and device controls. Files saved to a file provider or exported to another location must be managed there as well. Deleting content in one location does not necessarily delete copies elsewhere.

Depending on your device and backup settings, app data may be included in device backups. Deleting a current local file or removing the app does not necessarily remove an earlier backup or a copy already shared with someone else. Backup retention, restoration, and deletion depend on the backup system and your settings. Review those settings and the relevant provider's information.

No fixed retention period is specified for your local creative content: its storage depends on your choices and the storage or backup location. If you send material to us, its retention depends on the purpose of your request and any applicable legal retention requirements. You can contact us about deletion of material you have provided.

Where personal data is necessary to provide the app functions or contractual support you request, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Where a particular processing operation requires your consent, the basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Consent can be withdrawn for future processing without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. If a legal obligation requires us to retain personal data, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR applies to that retention.

10. Advertising – Google AdMob

Conditional section. This section applies only to app versions in which Google AdMob is actually integrated and enabled. It does not state that AdMob, an advertising SDK, or a consent-management interface is already implemented in GuitarBeats.

In such a version, Google's advertising service may receive an IP address, device or advertising identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, and diagnostic or performance information. An IP address may be used to infer an approximate location. The actual data depends on the SDK, configuration, permissions, and privacy choices in that version.

Google would receive and process advertising-related data to deliver and measure ads, prevent abuse, and, where permitted, personalise advertising. Its responsibilities and any other recipients must reflect the actual integration. Read Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps using its services.

Where consent is required, an advertising-enabled version must obtain it before the relevant processing begins and provide a way to revisit or withdraw the choice. Google's User Messaging Platform is one possible consent-management tool; its use is not asserted here. Any required Apple tracking permission is a separate system control. Non-personalised ads may still involve data processing. The privacy options actually available must be explained in the version offering advertising.

11. Optional In-App Purchase – Remove Ads

Conditional section. This section applies only to app versions that actually offer a one-time “Remove Ads” purchase. It does not state that an in-app purchase or StoreKit integration is already implemented.

If offered, the purchase would be processed through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment and the associated Apple Account and purchase information under its own privacy terms. The app would process the purchase entitlement, including the transaction information needed to determine or restore whether ads have been removed. Removing ads is a one-time optional purchase, not a subscription.

The purpose of that entitlement processing would be to provide the purchased ad-free functionality. Apple explains its handling of purchases in App Store & Privacy. This section does not imply that GuitarBeats receives your payment card details or that purchasing ad removal deletes previously processed advertising data.

12. Your rights

Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you may request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. These rights depend on the processing and applicable legal conditions.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or the alleged infringement.

For data stored only on your device, we cannot access or delete it remotely. You can use the local controls described above. For questions or requests concerning personal data we process, contact our Data Protection Officer, Montgomery Müller, at datenschutz@unicomedv.de, or write to the controller at the address above.
